“Smart Risk is a smart read for investors of all ages. While she thoughtfully guides the reader to think strategically, learn from the success of others, challenge one’s mindsets and be open to new ideas, Maili Wong writes from a profound place of the heart. “
Through compelling personal and client stories, Maili disarms the reader by acknowledging life’s challenges and the emotional impact they can have on making decisions – financial and otherwise. In doing so, she creates a safe space to reflect on one’s current situation, identify needs and goals, look into the future and apply her roadmap to make positive changes in one’s life.
Although our main arenas are different – Maili in finance and mine in health working with individuals and families dealing with health changes and the care journey – I am struck by the similarities in our perspectives and approaches to clients. Maili’s holistic and proactive approach is designed to help clients and their families navigate through complicated and changing landscapes – financial and otherwise. Her focus on ongoing communication with clients to educate and empower them, identify current and anticipated needs, assess current plans, revisit goals and create a mastermind team/circle of trust is crucial in positioning clients well throughout life. Maili encourages readers to apply these same strategies to their own lives.
What did I love most about this book? Wei chi. In Chinese, the character for danger and opportunity. Maili’s gift is her ability to reframe fear so that readers can face life’s difficult moments and not be paralyzed. She offers optimism and resilience in place of fear. Maili invites readers to take smart risks and change the course of their lives so that it is filled with purpose, meaning and peace of mind.
